Kissing a Frog.
So do you really have to “kiss a few frogs to find a prince?” What if the frog never turns into your prince? How disappointing ey? Then I ask, why just kiss a frog when you can kiss a moose instead?! That’s right, do something totally unexpected! (Hmm … while on the topic of frogs and princes, check out Lori Gosselin’s latest post, Do You Believe in Happily Ever After? – you’ll love it!)
Kissing a Moose.
I have an affinity towards moose for some reason. I have about a dozen moose ornaments from Lenox I’ve collected over the years and love bringing them out each Christmas. So naturally I melted when I saw this photo and I knew there was a blog post just waiting to be written. (Actually my mother sent this to me and said, “Any blog possibilities?” Ah, she knows me well!) ![]()
“Kissed by a Wild Moose” (aren’t all moose wild?!). Stands 6′ 1″ at 250 lbs. I want one!!!
So while your running across your fair share of frog in sales, in business or in daily life, go steal a kiss from moose instead! You may be pleasantly surprised!
- Try a different (even scary for you) approach.
- Expect the unexpected!
- Be curious!
- Be fearless!
- Be open to all possibilities!
- Look for answers. (You don’t have to go far, look outside your own back door; you may find just what you’re looking for!)
- Be a maverick! Color outside the lines, dream big, really big; and be someone’s inspiration!
- Offer something totally different to your clients and to the world around you … it may take time, but eventually people will start to notice!
- Find joy in the frogs, the moose, the geese, the ants, etc.
- Forget about the prince! Instead realize that each experience with a frog, moose or otherwise; therein lies a lesson – an opportunity for growth!
Would You Smooch a Moose?
Would you be willing to smooch a moose instead of a frog just to see what happens? What would you add to the list above? I’m curious. Always, thank you so much for stopping by and for your comments; I appreciate you so much!
Happy Friday! Enjoy your weekend and make it memorable!

Hi Elena…happy Friday! I love the pic that your Mom sent to you… I, too, love moose ( is the plural meese?) When I was about 10, I read a book about a young Canadian boy and his pet moose ( I think it was called My Moose Mac ) and since that time I have made it a goal to see a moose in person in the wild…maybe even at my back door for a moose smooch. Not much chance of that happening in Northern Illinois BUT I can stretch a bit in my business and kiss a few unconventional mooses ( meese) to broaden my business horizons. You are so right…if I limit myself to looking for the perfect prince, I might miss some great moose opportunities. Thanks Elena for a delightful moose post!

This is sooo funny Claudia! I was totally wacked about “moose” or “meese” and to ease my mind I went on a “moose hunt” and found out it IS “moose” across the board. (I mean could we really not laugh if it was “meese” – they deserve better!!)
You are so delightful and charming and you “get it”! You love moose too!!
YAY!!!
I run across all sorts of princes in disguise in what we do and never do I cease to be entertained (and thankful … thankful that they’re someone else’s “prince”!
).
I don’t see moose here, but I do a few black bears. I have seen moose tracks in New Hampshire and was totally enamoured (one step closer I was!).
As a former children’s book writer, I so appreciate your moose story and I’m going to look it up!! It’s wonderful what stains our memories! Ahh…
I wish you the nicest day because you just made mine!
From one moose-lover to another, have a fantabulous day and weekend!!
Much kindness,
Elena

Hah…. It’s me again… I had the urge to “find” that children’s book and it’s now considered a “vintage” book….really??? I’d hate to think what I’m considered
. Anyhow, here’s the link ( it was called My Friend Mac)

Hi Elena,
LOL, though I’m not sure I’d kiss a moose, I’ve learned they are a beautiful and graceful animal. One night we heard a noise in our back yard. This was when we lived right in the town – across from the river. It turned out to be a moose – in our back yard! We just watched through the window – there was nothing we could do. Finally he figured out how to get out of the fenced in yard and walked down the street. It was magical to watch this huge creature walking down the street!
Thanks for the mention Elena!

Thank you so much for visiting Lori – you always brighten the day!
Have a great weekend!
Cheers to mooose sightings!!

Hey!!!
The title had me clicking like crazy! Kissing a moose… sounds like a nice idea, I wouldn’t kiss frogs no matter how much they promise to turn into prince … they have snobby queens for mothers anyway… so why bother
Yes, trying something different always has its advantages… if you are stuck with something bad, then you learn from “kissing” the wrong person and if it’s nice, then yay!
I love how you blend lessons into this!
Having left a job just recently, I must say you lifted my spirits…I am definitely out to try something different and new!
Hajra recently posted..What are you looking for?
Hajra so niiiice to see you here!! YAY!!
You are soooo right about “snobby queen mothers” – we don’t say the words “prince” or “princess” (especially) in our house!
I hope your new adventure is full of wonderful moose that pass by to smooch! I have this feeling missy that you’ll be totally OK and blaze a few trails along the way! Why? Because you’re wonderful you and good things happen to good people!!
Keep me posted!
Thank you for stopping by and for your kind words!
Wishing you a peaceful weekend and a light heart!

Cara Elena,
If I had the choice of kissing a frog or a moose, it would definitely be the latter, frogs are clammy and gluey-wet, besides having nasty mothers (thanks, Hajra!) we Europeans have a tendency to eat them, but kissing the soft fur of a moose – what bliss! And no, the moose does not have to turn into a prince, past that stage.
Love your list and I will keep it in mind: be fearless and do the unexpected: I am going to the hairdresser right now!
Un bel fin di settimana per te and may a moose come your way, Barbara

Beautiful Barbara,
So nice to have you visit and to know that you, too, would smooch a moose over a frog! YAY! Could you imagine what kind of prince would come from a moose?! Hopefully, a rugged, handsome one!
No, no I’m not expecting any prince, but I’m willing to go out on a limb to try new things!
Let me know how the hair turned out!
Wishing you a day as lovely as you!

I kissed an ass once; it helped the relationship early but certainly wasn’t something to build a long term relationship on. I say that facetiously, but it my line of sales it is very easy to be treated like a vendor. I don’t mind jumping through some hoops, but if it is not an equal relationship and they don’t appreciate what we do, then we will probably part company sooner rather than later regardless of how much they are paying us.
The thing I like about sales is each customer, each situation is unique. There are some givens, but the rest you have to be able to think on your feet and be human at the same time. I would say one of my strengths is being able to blend/adapt to the situation/person and not in a ‘fake’ kind of way, but sincere, empathetic kind of way.
One size definitely does not fit all in our arena, huh? That’s why we are not good spammers, right?

Ha, ha Bill … I had to read the opening line twice, which makes it all the funnier when take out the word “an”.
But now that I think about it, I’ve kissed a lot of those.
I’m with you though, if it’s not a mutual “#@-kissing” party than it won’t last too long. It has taken me years to learn that though. I do believe being is sales is somewhat addictive; however, I remind myself that pretty much everyone is in sales every day of their life in some form.
You are an adaptable one at that … it’s a gift I think and that’s what truly makes you excel in your arena!
Thanks so much for stopping by and making me laugh (as always!).
I hope you and yours have the nicest weekend!!
Blue skies,
Elena

Would I kiss a moose? Hmm…I’d wrestle an alligator or a crocodile and I’d win. Unless they teamed up on me in which case I do more than win, I’d come out of there wearing a belt and boots.
I’d fight a shark of any size. You could make it a Great White but in the interest of making it a fair fight I would insist on it being on land.
So in response to your question I would have to say definitely maybe or perhaps probably.
Jack@TheJackB recently posted..Sunday Morning Reading
Now Jack the idea of you in a shark-skin suit with a gator belt and croc boots is actually … uh … well let’s just say appealing! Add your confidence to boot (no pun intended) and you’re a flat a winner period!
A moose would be a walk in the park to you!
You make me laugh … my two favorite (well, my two only) men (you and the dapper Mr. Dorman) who keep it spicy here … thank you!!
Happiness,
Elena

The most frequent mistake is to set up your enterprise on a personalized profile and you see this a lot on Facebook. It is simple to spot because you have close friends as a substitute of ‘likes’. Personal profiles are for people and they have close friends, pages are for companies which individuals can then like.
