The Sign of Thank You | To Our Veterans

I had another post written for today; it’ll have to wait. People are talking about the fascination of 11-11-11. This day should mean only one thing to us in the United States; it’s a day of honor and thanksVeteran’s Day. Honor and thanks to those who leave their families, risk their lives and have died to defend and protect our precious freedoms! Freedoms that hang in the balance this very moment.

Veterans Day coincides with Armistice Day or Remembrance Day, which are celebrated in other parts of the world and also mark the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I. So today, in various places people remember … as the should.

Take time today to reflect and if you see a person of the Armed Forces (today or any day) take the time to thank them; they do good work and are so worthy of our gratitude.

Veterans Day Poems (for children too!)

They Did Their Share

On Veteran’s Day we honor
Soldiers who protect our nation.
For their service as our warriors,
They deserve our admiration.

Some of them were drafted;
Some were volunteers;
For some it was just yesterday;
For some it’s been many years;

In the jungle or the desert,
On land or on the sea,
They did whatever was assigned
To produce a victory.

Some came back; some didn’t.
They defended us everywhere.
Some saw combat; some rode a desk;
All of them did their share.

No matter what the duty,
For low pay and little glory,
These soldiers gave up normal lives,
For duties mundane and gory.

Let every veteran be honored;
Don’t let politics get in the way.
Without them, freedom would have died;
What they did, we can’t repay.

We owe so much to them,
Who kept us safe from terror,
So when we see a uniform,
Let’s say “thank you” to every wearer.

Teach you children well about the history of this great country. Outside of God’s Word, it’s the most important thing they can learn. Captivate them with the rich stories of America so that their hearts swell with pride and they look at every freedom, every right as gifts they truly are!

Those who cannot remember the past, are condemned to repeat it.”George Santayana 1952

You put it on the line for us
We won’t forget, you are A-Plus

This country stands because of you
Your service seals red white, and blue

No better troops embrace this earth
Thank God for you, our greatest worth

We pray for you both night and day
God be with you along your way

You wear your uniform with pride
And use your skills, so well applied

The rank you hold does mean one thing
You’re a GI and you are first-string

Be well assured we back you strong
How proud we say ‘that you belong’

Without your will – to walk the walk
We’d have no right – to talk the talk

I Fought For You

Yes, they did! For each one of us!

Veteran’s Day Prayer

Dear Lord,
Today we honor our veterans,
worthy men and women
who gave their best
when they were called upon
to serve and protect their country.
We pray that you will bless them, Lord,
for their unselfish service
in the continual struggle
to preserve our freedoms, our safety,
and our country’s heritage, for all of us.
Bless them abundantly
for the hardships they faced,
for the sacrifices they made
for their many different contributions
to America’s victories
over tyranny and oppression.
We respect them, we thank them,
we honor them, we are proud of them,
and we pray that you will watch over
these special people
and bless them with peace and happiness.
In Your holy name we pray. Amen.

I’m going to end pulling a Jack Steiner (check him out!!) and end with a badass video (referred to as “death from above”).

Thank you veterans of all branches and Happy 236th Birthday to the U.S. Marine Corps (yesterday). Happy Veterans Day!

    What a great tribute. Yes, many a sacrifice has been made for us to enjoy the freedoms we have; never take it for granted.

    Uncle Sam had me for 3 years and made me a lean, green, fightin’ machine. I didn’t fully appreciate it at the time, but my time in service greatly contributed to who I am today. It was the right organization at the right time in my life to help me ‘grow’ up.

    Thanks so much for sharing this.

      I wish more young men would give to their country for a few years of their life … I think we’d have a different nation right now.
